Marie McGilvray, an accomplished singer-songwriter, has long believed that spirit and song are connected. As a young girl, she was exposed to the sacred music of the Catholic church by hearing her father play the organ for weekly mass: “I remember getting the chills listening to the words as the choir sang those beautiful melodies ”. Marie’s music has often reflected her spiritual journey and poetically explores the deeper aspects of life. In 2007, Marie released her debut EP Big Love and her song “Mockingbird (We Are One)” was featured regionally in the 2008 Presidential campaign. In her latest Solitary World release, she explores themes about the physical and ethereal aspects of being human. She was a finalist in the Eddie's Attic Songwriter’s Shootout – a bi-annual show that features some of the best up and coming singer-songwriters in the country. Marie also records and performs with the female duo Rising Violets.
